This course fulfills State requirements for Pre-Certification Nurse Assistant Training by providing completion of the competencies in basic nursing skills in a skilled nursing facility. Home Health Aide is a 50-hour add-on for licensed CNAs to learn the skills needed to care for people in their homes. Students will receive up to 40 CEUs for the class. Training will be at adult education’s Green Valley Center and a local residential care home, plus home visits will be arranged with an RN from a local home health agency. |

Candidates are required to present an approved/original “Application for Nurse Assistant Certification” (HS form 283 B). Registration and time scheduling through American Red Cross prior to the testing date. Contact your CNA instructor for information and a registration form. The cost is $90 paid to American Red Cross for skills and written tests. Fee must be paid by cash (in person only), money order or cashiers check (no personal checks or credit cards accepted).

Watsonville/Aptos Adult Education, in collaboration with Boston Reed and local healthcare facilities, is offering a 20-week Clinical Medical Assistant training program. The "back office" medical assistant's primary role is to assist the doctor in providing patient care. Clinical Medical Assistant duties include assisting the doctor with clinical procedures such as minor surgeries, performing simple laboratory tests and administering medications. Participants will be required to satisfactorily complete 134 hours of classroom instruction and a 160-hour clinical externship. The clinical externship will be performed at a local medical clinic or office and will be arranged by Boston Reed. The program satisfies all training guidelines established by the California Medical Board and the California Medical Assistant Association (CMAA). Participants will receive a certificate of completion and be job-ready upon completion of the course. Course fee of $1,685 is paid to Boston Reed, includes textbook, workbook, medical equipment, clinical externship and certificate. |

You will learn to assist the pharmacist with mixing and packaging prescriptions, maintain client records, refer clients to the pharmacist for counseling, assist with inventory control and purchasing, as well as collect payments and coordinate billing. There are 182 hours of classroom instruction plus a 120 hour externship coordinated by Boston Reed. |
