Watsonville/Aptos Adult Education offers an accredited high school diploma program, GED instruction, pre-GED instruction, and other programs to assist adults and current high school students in completion of their secondary education. In addition, students may improve their skills for college entrance or career preparation. An individual course of study based on assessment, schedule, and goals will be designed for each student. Courses are offered in teacher-directed classrooms, individualized instruction with a teacher, and independent study format. Only students with a high school diploma or GED who wish to improve their skills are required to pay a $10.00 supply fee and may be required to purchase textbooks.

The registration process may include updating your assessment. Please come to register and be prepared to stay and begin coursework. No fee.
Build basic skills in beginning, intermediate and advanced levels of pre-GED reading, writing, speaking, listening and mathematics. No fee.

Concurrent Enrollment for High School Student
Students currently enrolled in a high school seeking to “make-up” credit or prepare for the California High School Exit Exam may enroll in the adult school, on a space available basis. The courses are offered in an individual study format with a teacher. The following items are required for registration:
• meet with your high school counselor and parent or guardian
• complete a concurrent high school release form with all
required signatures
• bring a current high school transcript

SOS is for young students/individuals age 14 through 19 who have stopped attending school. Each SOS student has the opportunity to:
- Earn high school credits to return to a comprehensive or alternative high school program
- Prepare for the GED, college or training program
- Earn a high school diploma through Watsonville/Aptos Adult Education
The instructor works in partnership with each student and his/her family for greater successful outcomes. Job skills/life skills, computer literacy and vocational training are also offered. Please call 728-6330 for information and an appointment. No fee. Fee
Academic Language – Learning Center Laboratory The Learning Center Laboratory provides academic language in English with special curriculum for students interested in going to college in the U.S. or working in the U.S. Learn to read and write in English, learn Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. Learn the language necessary to be successful in college or to be successful on the job. Arrange your lab hours around your ESL or VESL classes.
GED Test Preparation Assessment, classes, a computer study program and GED practice tests result in a very high pass rate for our students. No fee.

GED Distance Learning FREE! This opportunity is for students whose work or family schedules make it difficult for them to attend classes on a regular basis or who wish to combine classroom instruction with at-home study. Students meet weekly with a teacher to review their week’s study and receive materials for the next week. Options include both DVDs and workbooks, and students can take the Official GED Practice Tests before signing up for the actual GED Exams. Call: (831) 786-2160 to make an appointment. The GED is a five-part examination which measures a person's general educational development in comparison to that of high school graduates. Tests, given in English or Spanish, are:
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
- Language Arts/Writing
- Language Arts/Reading.
Students can prepare for the GED tests in English and Spanish and take practice tests at:
- Downtown Center — Porter Building, 280 Main Street, Watsonville
- Workforce Santa Cruz County, 18 W. Beach Street, Watsonville
The examinations are given at the Green Valley Center, 294 Green Valley Road, Watsonville. Anyone wishing to take the test must be 18 years of age and have a valid photo identification.
The total cost is $120 ($75 for mailing fees, scoring fees and certificate, payable at the time of registration, and $9 for each test). Payment must be made in cash or major credit card. No checks are accepted for GED. The fee for retaking a test is $10. Registration and appointments for the GED exams must be made in person at the Green Valley Center, Watsonville.
Students attending more than 20 hours of GED preparation classes through the Learning Center (Watsonville/Aptos Adult Education) may be eligible for a reduced fee.
